History of Siamsa!
iamsa is an authentic Irish pub located in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania
in the heart of the Poconos. The Pub is in a Historic Building that
used to be a Bank. The original Safe Door has been preserved and
is incorporated into the pub as a feature. The Bar was designed
by Irish Designers, built in a Factory in Ireland, shipped to Stroudsburg
and assembled by Irish Craftsmen.
iamsa, pronounced "sheem-sa" comes from our ancient
gaelic language.
he word itself describes fun and music. In times gone by, in old
Ireland, it would describe an evenings impromptu entertainment when
country folk would ramble into a neighbors cottage to sit and talk
for a while and listen to a storyteller or seanachaí or possibly
join in on a night of singing and dancing around a roaring fire.
he Pub has two different Designs to reflect two very different
types of Irish Pubs. The lower part of the Pub is Designed as the
Gaelic Pub which captures the character of the Gaelic people well
known for their dedication to merry making, music and craftsmanship
through the years. Stories from the rich heritage of Irish folklore
and mythology are illustrated in delicately painted wall murals,
inspired by distinctively Gaelic art forms.
he top section of the Pub is designed in the Victorian Style to
resemble the Old Dublin Pubs well known across the World for their
comfort, hospitality and enjoyment. The interior of the Victorian
Pub was usually lavish, with much use made of beveled mirrors and
stained Glass, elaborate tiling and decorative brass. Our Pub reflects
this Victorian style of 19th century Dublin Pubs particularly in
the ornate back bar and use of glazed snug booths .
e have dedicated ourselves to producing an authentic Siamsa Pub.
e hope you enjoy the spirit of Ireland.
